Who we are

FLAXA is the recognized trade body representing most of Bangladesh's major export-oriented manufacturers and exporters of leather goods and footwear. Our core objective is to build a healthy business environment and a mutually beneficial relationship between local manufacturers and exporters and foreign buyers — positioning Bangladesh's leather sector as a prominent investment destination through a fully compliant membership.

History

Founded in 2003 by Nasser Rahman, FLAXA was established to unite the country's leather goods and footwear manufacturers, encourage cooperation among members, and provide a platform for local and international exposure. From the outset, the association has worked to build awareness among international buyers and represent members before government and public bodies on regulatory matters.

To promote the development of a globally competitive, integrated, and sustainable leather products & footwear industry in Bangladesh.

• Promote members' interests in line with global best practice and market needs.
• Ensure safe workplaces and workers' rights.
• Represent the industry to key policymakers — the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Bank, and the Ministries of Commerce and Finance.
• Foster a strong value chain at home and abroad.
• Support adoption of digital and modern technology across the industry.
• Build awareness of ESG reporting and the circular economy.
• Promote diversity, equity and inclusion among member firms.
• Encourage local and foreign investment in Bangladesh.
